Bonjour, My Lovelies.
(All facts and opinions in

personal experience.)
Today's topic is eating disorders in the US. Eating disorders have been far too normalized, for many years now; especially in the fame and Hollywood world. 9% of people in the US-that we know of-struggle with an eating disorder; that number may not feel like too much to you, but it does to them. 9% of people in the US means possibly 30 million human beings struggling with a basic need to survive. 15% to 20% of that group are minors, children, who are sick with a disease that not only effects them, but the people who surround them. As of today, there are 8 known eating disorders; 3 of them you have probably heard of. The 3 most common types are Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder. Even though those are the most common, it doesn't mean that the others aren't just as deadly and/or valid. There are many reasons that people do this to themselves, such as body image issues, a way to deal with past trauma, or simply just the euphoric feeling it gives them. So, dive into this entry; to learn more about the experiences of the 3 most common eating disorders, from somebody who had a taste of all of them.
Anorexia Nervosa (Ana)~
About 13% of people who experienced any eating disorders have or had Anorexia. This disorder is the one that hit me first, and usually most people. Even though you can get any disorder from another in any order, Anorexia is the most common to start others. Anorexia, also widely known by the term "Ana", is primarily when somebody goes to extreme lengths to lose weight fast; typically by starving themselves for long periods at a time. Or, other ways such as extreme dieting, one small meal a day, etc. This is the deadliest disorder out of all three, since you need to eat to survive. The truth about this sickness is that it doesn't work the way people think. It makes you tired, constantly agitated, and ultimately slows down your metabolism. In conclusion, If you want to lose weight fast, Ana is not the way to go, try to workout more often or go on a healthy diet. Never try to start this deadly eating disorder, as it leads to all the rest.
Binge Eating Disorder (BED)~
Bulimia Nervosa (Mia)~
Bulimia usually originates from BED, as Bulimia is sort of a mix of BED and Ana. There are a variety of different types of Mia, but what it really means is to discard food after you have already consumed it. For the eating part, it can be a binge or just simply eating a regular amount of food. Now, for the discarding part, this one is a bit tricky. Because, there is a very wide range of how people do it. This is called "purging", the main examples are: extreme laxative use, excessive work outs, vomiting up the food you ate, and starving for days after a binge. The difference between Ana and Mia, with the starving part, is that there is usually a binge in between the starving for Mia. But, for Ana, there is not.
I hope that today I helped educate you on eating disorders. And, if you ever see signs that someone you know could be going through something like this, please talk to them about it and do what you can to find them help. Or, If you are going through this, please reach out for help, recovery is the best thing that can happen to you. I promise.
So remember, never talk, make fun, or be quick to judge someone's body, because you never know what someone might be going through; Never cast a fire that can lead to hell.
Love Always, Anonymous Cupcake
